What to Expect After You Book a Newborn Session-

First off- congratulations on your growing family and thank you so much for trusting me to capture such a special and fleeting season of life. Booking a newborn session is just the beginning of a beautiful experience and I am here to walk you through every step of the way. Here's exactly what to you can expect once your session is officially on the calendar.

Step One: Let's Connect

Once your session is booked, we'll schedule a Connect Call. This is one of my favorite parts of the process! During this phone call, I take the time to truly get to know your family- what makes you you, what moments matter most and what you'd love to remember when you look back on these photos years from now. This helps me document your story in a way that feels personal, heartfelt and authentic.

Step Two: The Welcome Guide

After our call, you'll receive my Newborn Welcome Guide. This guide is packed with all the information you'll need to feel fully prepared for your session. From how to get your home ready to what to wear and what to expect during and after the session, it's all in there.

Step Three: Preparing for the Session

I like to keep things relaxed and natural. While I'll guide you a bit with simple poses, I really lean into gentle prompts that help capture those real, in between moments- snuggles, giggles, kisses and all the sweet connections that make your family unique.

I'll also bring along a variety of swaddles, bows, hats and simple props perfect for your little one, so you don't need to worry about a thing. That said, if you have any sentimental items you'd like to include- whether it's a handmade blanket, a special outfit, or something meaningful- we'll talk through that ahead of time and make sure it's part of the story.

To help your home be photo ready, I offer a few easy tips- like clearing off nightstands or dressers near the bed, and opening up blinds to let in beautiful natural light. These small adjustments make a huge difference in your final images.

For baby, the best-case scenario is to try to keep them awake for a bit before I arrive and give them a full feeding right before the session starts. This often helps them be content and sleepy. Keep in mind, this is the "best-case scenario". If baby needs an extra feeding during our session or even a diaper change.. that is OKAY! I am here to capture your family and I am able to go with the flow.

Step Four: What to Wear

Included in your guide is a Style Guide with tips on what to wear to help you look and feel your best while complementing my editing style. Soft neutrals and muted tones photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on your family's connection. I recommend avoiding busy patterns or bold colors, which can distract from the emotion of your images.

Here are a few of my go-to favorites for wardrobe:

  • For moms: Petal & Pup, Pink Blush and Red Dress Boutique
  • For dads and kids: Old Navy, H&M and Target

** Amazon always has great, affordable finds too

Step Five: After the Session

Within three days, I'll send you a handful of sneak peeks so you can relive the magic while you wait for your full gallery (which typically takes 2-3 weeks to complete). I'll stay in touch along the way so you always know where we are at in the editing process.

When your gallery is ready, you'll have the option to order prints directly from my professional lab partners. I've worked hard to ensure that what you see on your screen is what you'll get in print.. high-quality, true to color and made to last.

Step Six: I'm Here for You

From the moment you book to the final delivery of your gallery (and beyond!!), my goal is to make this a stress free, meaningful experience. If you ever have a question, need help choosing outfits, or just want to chat about the session, I'm only a message away.

I can't wait to help you tell this new chapter of your story. These newborn days are fleeting- but the love, the connection and the beauty of this season can live on forever in your photos.

With much love,

Jonna
