Why We're Stronger Together

When I first started my photography journey, I'll be honest, I felt intimidated. It seemed like everyone around me had more experience, better equipment, or a busier calendar than I did. It was so easy to get caught in the trap of comparison and feel like I had to "compete" with every other photographer out there.

But over time, I learned that photography doesn't have to be a competition. In fact, choosing community has been one of the best things I've ever done for myself and for my business.

The truth is, there are countless photographers in the world.. but not one of us sees life through the exact same lens. My perspective as a boy mom, for example, shows up in the way I capture families- messy, energetic and full of love in the chaos. Another photographer might focus on quiet, intimate portraits. And that's the beauty of it. There's enough room for all of us, because every client connects to something different.

When I shifted my mindset to community, everything changed. I began reaching out to other photographers instead of quietly comparing myself to them. I started to cheer people on and make reel connections. And you know what? It didn't take away from my business.. it grew it! When we support each other, doors open that competition could never create. Referring clients when I'm unavailable or not the right fit builds trust, both with families and other photographers. And in return, I've been blessed by others doing the same for me.

At the end of the day, photography is about connection- capturing connection for families and creating it within our creative community too. Community over competition isn't just a nice phrase; it's a mindset that makes this industry healthier, more sustainable and soooo much more enjoyable. There is more than enough room for all of us at the table and its so much sweeter when we sit there together!

With much love,
